The Monroe Center offers a spectrum of Health and Fitness programs with the idea of keeping people active and healthy. Our heart is in vital programming that keeps seniors well and independent. Join in and limber up! See the Calendar of Activities for some days and times.
 

Blood Pressure Checks

R.N. Linda Manor takes your blood pressure once a month on the third Thursday to help you monitor your good health!.

Exercise Class
Come and join the men and women who exercise with Cheryl Vining, who is lots of fun and offers excellent strategies for health and fitness!  Come on in 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Using chairs as balance aids, this class will get you circulating and keep you flexible. Move to music classics and groove to some new ones – come step to the beat! $1 per class for members, $2 per class nonmembers.

Line Dancing
Country and pop tunes come together in songs with a line dancing swing to keep you energized! Our large common area becomes a dance floor for beginners and advanced participants alike. Everyone is welcome! Fridays, 2:15 to 4 p.m. AND some evening classes when available. $3 members, $4 nonmembers for each class.

Exercise Space at the Center
We have dedicated space for your personal exercise with stationary bikes, recumbent bike, cardiofit machines, scale, and treadmill.  Come use these anytime weekdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends during center hours. If you would like training on one of the machines, please see the front desk - OUR STAFF HAS BEEN PRACTICING AND WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO HELP!

T’ai Chi
Join in the Chinese martial art that combines controlled movements with deep breathing. T’ai Chi provides health benefits that include reducing stress, lessening chronic pain, and improving the immune system. An aerobic alternative, this exercise also has long-term cardiovascular benefits. In addition, balance and blood pressure often see improvement and bones are strengthened. Fridays at 1:00 p.m.

Health Odyssey
Come on the fourth Thursday of the month at 11 am, March through October for complimentary healthy meals and health education presentations.  This favorite event fills early, so reserve at 734-241-0404.

NEW! Wii Sports
Wii Bowling, Tennis, Baseball . . . lots of fun!  Training available on Mondays.  We will have the Wii out for your enjoyment and experimentation ~ ask at the front desk for sign in!
